Networking, tools,
and things I use.

I’m Griffith, a Software Engineer II at Cisco. I work on cloud-managed networking, backend platforms, and developer tools.

Away from work, I build apps for guitar practice, transit, food, and my own infrastructure. These are some of the things I’ve been working on.

Recent projects

Personal apps and infrastructure, built around problems I run into.

01Application infrastructure

Shared PWA & Identity Platform

A common foundation for independently deployed personal apps: passkey sign-in, application access grants, reusable session handling, and shared Svelte components.

Includes authorization-code/PKCE sign-in, CSRF protection, service workers, push delivery, and startup telemetry.

  • Svelte
  • TypeScript
  • SQLite
  • WebAuthn
02Offline-first applications

Guitar Room

An invite-only guitar practice app with private song libraries, flexible goals, group activity, and reminders that respect each person’s timezone.

Offline timers and check-ins use an IndexedDB outbox and idempotent synchronization, preserving the time a practice session actually happened.

  • IndexedDB
03Location & recovery

Haystack

A self-hosted e-bike tracker that integrates Apple’s Find My network with an authenticated map and persistent location history.

Rotating P-224 keys, authenticated AES-GCM location reports, and recovery scans retain sightings across downtime and service restarts.

  • Go
  • TypeScript
  • SQLite
  • Docker
04Transit & real-time data

Train Arrival Calculator

A transit timing app combining BART and Caltrain schedules with real-time overlays, saved routes, and a configurable iPhone widget.

Validated schedule downloads, atomic replacement, persistent caching, and stale-data fallbacks keep it useful when upstream services are unavailable.

  • Axum
  • SvelteKit
  • SQLite
  • GTFS
05Networking & infrastructure

Self-Healing VPN Gateway

A controller that monitors WireGuard and Tailscale health and automatically switches VPN servers, with cooldowns to avoid unnecessary churn.

A persistent network namespace keeps Tailscale running while VPN containers are replaced. Related tools handle SNI routing and selective traffic inspection on trusted devices.

  • Go
  • Python
  • Linux
  • Docker
  • WireGuard
06Local customizations

AI Development Tooling

Personal extensions to existing CodexHost and Open Harness installations, making model selection, reasoning controls, and keyboard navigation fit my workflow.

Includes persisted presets, configurable shortcuts, session-aware message editing, and React/TypeScript controls synchronized with the active session.

Something you can try

Wholemeal

Dinner, with a little less indecision.

I built Wholemeal because I wasn’t eating enough vegetables and wanted a fun way to decide what to cook. Spin for a protein, carb, and vegetable, save your favorites, and add your own foods.
